A Special Note From Jaz
Aww, I just love this dancing, smiling, Starbucks drinking lady right here, Ms. Karess Grant. This episode is short and powerful and continues to impact my life in so many ways. I just love the scripture she provided as it made me say the same thing, wow God really does believe that I too am beautiful. It isn’t something we just say to pump up our egos we were made in His image and there is no flaw in us. No matter what happened to you He still see’s Himself within us. I love how she deeply expresses her desire to want more out of God and the importance of building a strong relationship with Christ. I’ve ween it in her and am still inspired to this day by how she lives her walk out loud, confidently and boldly.
Most importantly the second thing she would tell her younger self, touched my spirit today, “Don’t doubt what God has revealed to you. If He said it, then it’s going to come to pass!”
I receive it. Amen!!!
What is the challenge you faced before God pressed the reset button?
What obstacle did you overcome/testimony? What was the pivotal moment in your life thus far that changed everything?
Hailing from Huntsville, TX professional dancer, teacher and choreographer, Karess Grant, has been working in full-time ministry with her gifts. Learning how to love herself when the world tells her that she is not enough and loving what God has already instilled in her.
At age 12 she was diagnosed with scoliosis. She was a dancer and her spine is crooked. She was walking differently than everyone else and they were making fun of her. She had insecurities and on top of that, she was abused.
As she was going to high school and college she heard God tell her that He has a calling on her life and has such purpose planted in her. She had to learn how to love herself in spite of scoliosis, her insecurities, and past abuse.
How has that shown you the path God has prepared for your life? Steps along your journey.
She accepted Christ into her life at age 12 and decided to have a relationship with God. Being in the middle of nowhere and not having a lot of friends she grew up in church and had Christ. She realized she could take control over the way she felt. She could make the choice to press through and lean on God and allow Him to change her inside and out.
Some defining moment that happened after she accepted Christ at 12. She dealt with peer pressure and had to learn how to be okay with being different and not fitting in. She struggled with it a lot. No one could put their finger on it but they all knew it was something different about her.
When she was in college she found herself in a pretty dark place where she didn’t go to church for about two years. Towards the end of college, she went through this stage of what am I going to do next? She graduated college and did not have a job and she had to move back home with her parents. She went through a stage of depression.
In that stage of depression, she began to find her [renewed] genuine love for Christ. She went back to that moment when her life changed. She decided again that she did not have to be in that low or dark place in her life. She realized she was capable of more. She deserved more. God created her to be more!
She prayed and God told her to go to school. So she went back for her MBA, moved to Houston and started going to the 429 church. She met amazing people there who started pouring into her. They spoke life into her. From there she attended Hope City and that is how we met!
Within all those steps she is a professional dancer, now dance instructor at a Chrisitan High School in Houston, TX.
Can you share your favorite scripture?
Song of Solomon 4:7 [NKJV]
7 “O my love, you are altogether beautiful and fair.
There is no flaw nor blemish in you!”
“Back-tracking to loving myself and knowing that I can love myself and I should…I trust you, God because I am altogether beautiful and all of the flaws that are within me. All of the things that I have messed up and done, all of the things that I have gone through, I am still beautiful and there is no flaw in me. That’s how He see’s us and that’s why I love Him so much!” #FLAWLESS
What do you do daily to let your light shine?
“Start inside before out. I have my quiet time. I used to be bad and tear myself down before the day even started. Now I do the opposite. Affirmations and I like to love on other people. Spiritual well-being. Investing in your spirit and feeding your spirit. Feeding your spirit. Love and Freedom! Freedom in Christ! Just FREE!”
Name (3) things that you would tell your younger self?
