A Special Note From Jaz
Mrs. Lena Ballew, I am sooooo proud of you for being so brave and sharing your story with RYJ first. I pray God allows you to do what your heart desires and make a true difference in the world. This is most definitely a great start. It was an honor and a pleasure having you on the show.
What an incredible journey you have had and it is just amazing how God can grab us in the secret places and we have no clue that He is going to change our path and redirect it in a marvelous way. The road may not have been easy and it still indeed is a journey but you most definitely are not who you once were and it is absolutely incredible.
Also, thank God for your great aunt. I wonder if she was praying for you while you begin to have those visions and God was leading you to go to her when you were in need.
What is the challenge you faced before God pressed the reset button?
What obstacle did you overcome/testimony? What was the pivotal moment in your life thus far that changed everything?
Lena is constantly learning and is now ready to finally share her story. She was abandoned by her mother when she was a baby, her father passed away when she was only eleven years old. She lived in a girl’s home by 12/13 years old. She ran away at 15 years old and got pregnant with her first daughter who she had when she was 16 years old.
That’s how she was a sixteen year old, living alone, in a car, with a six-month-old baby. No one knew of the battles she faced as she dealt with them internally and on her own. She dealt with shame and even to this day, there are very few people who know, until now.
She cried herself to sleep several days in a row, she just cried and prayed some really hard prayers, releasing it to God, saying she could not do it alone and she had to do it with Him, whatever He wanted her to do she wanted Him to show her.
Looking back now, because we all know that hindsight is 20/20, that was when she began to put her faith and trust in God.
God gave her visions of where she was supposed to go next, her great aunt. She followed and although she is no longer living, she helped her raise her child. She got Lena back on her feet so she could go back to school and start working. Of course, she is not perfect but leaned into God and SHE SURVIVED!
How has that shown you the path God has prepared for your life? Steps along your journey.
Lena still faced a series of obstacles in front of her, she entered into a bad relationship at 18 years old with whom she had her oldest son.
She always knew she wanted to own her own business. She met her now husband in her late twenties, and they have two boys together now. When things in her life began to shift she realized something, she wanted everything that she thought she could never have. She wanted to be a better mother, a wife, etc.
Lena and her husband had to grow up, dealing with a lot of anger, sorrow, issues from her past and her own demons that were hindering her from building her relationship. At this moment she had no idea how she could be a better person or what to do in order to make these changes.
She began going to church a few years back, which allowed her to tap into her faith more and more and that’s when change begin to happen.
The past five years have been full of soul cleaning, getting it all out to be refilled with faith, beauty, grace and so much more.
She realizes it is a journey and gave it all to God so she no longer carries it. Pray, believe big and give it your all, that’s when you will experience God changing everything.
Can you share your favorite scripture?
Philippians 4:13 [NKJV]
13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
“While I’m on the treadmill, it gives me the extra push and gets me through the day. I repeat it ten times in the morning.”
Matthew 9:29 [NKJV]
29 …“According to your faith let it be to you.”
“I am a big believer in how big your faith is, it will be unto you. The bigger your faith, the bigger God’s plan is for you.”
What do you do daily to let your light shine?
“I try to do this 4-5 times out of the week. I go to the living room, everything if off and I’ll just meditate. I sit there I breathe and meditate. Then I start visualizing about the things that I want to happen in the day and in the future. Then I feed my mind positive energy, affirmations, then I PRAY. I pray for everyone, anyone I can think of, then I write in my journal. I will read the Bible or a couple of books that I like. It usually takes me about 45-60 mins in the morning.
Throughout the day, I will start emptying my mind and just start feeding it good stuff. It makes me feel good!”
Name (3) things that you would tell your younger self?
- Don’t rush growing up. You can’t go back to being a teenager. You don’t get that back.
- Save more money, spend less.
- Self-educate. Knowledge. READ A BOOK! You can learn so much!
Why do you love you some you? What makes you extraordinary?
“My heart. I think I have a giving, loving heart. I will give my t-shirt off my back just to give it to someone else. I am a caring, nurturing person and I always want to help others. I am an extraordinary woman because I am loved. I have great kids. I have a great life and I want to change the world one day at a time and make a difference!”

The Power of Positive Thinking by Norman Peele
10 Seconds of Motivation
“Faith power works wonders! Have faith in God! I believe God gives me the power to attain what I really want. I expect the best and with God’s help will attain the best. The rough is only mental, I THINK VICTORY, I GET VICTORY! Change your approach, if you don’t get it right the first time, change your approach. It might take you 10,000 times, but always change your approach.”
